About Vessel Botanical Design:
We use flowers that are locally grown, organic, or fairly traded. We search locally and internationally for quality organic and fair trade flowers for your wedding, event, or special occasion. Whenever possible Eco conscious containers are used. We have termed these Eco vessels.
Why Organic, Fair Trade and Local?
The look of a simple wedding cake decorated with flowers is both elegant and romantic.
Did you ever think about what may be on the flowers and what kind of residue might be on the cake?
Many conventional flowers come from South America, Columbia, Ecuador and Holland. They travel some distance and have been sprayed to prevent insects that would harm them or travel with them. Because flowers are not usually eaten the residues are exponentially higher than food imported from the same countries. Do you want to hold all those chemicals in your hand on your wedding day? Or place a toxic corsage across Grandma's heart?
The flower farmers and distributors of conventional flowers are exposed to many pesticides throughout the life of the flower. In many countries the growers are not paid well and are exposed to chemicals which have been banned in the United States. Fair trade flowers are grown sustainably and the workers earn a fair wage to grow them.
We take pride in working with flowers that we know are free of pesticides and fungicides and have made a positive effect on the environment and economy.
Offerings:
Local and/ or Organic
The season for flowers in Ohio is April through October. We use the flowers of local growers as much as possible throughout the year. Buying local helps the local economy as well as cutting the cost and pollution from shipping.
Imported Organic
Year round we have the choice of many different flowers including organic roses, calla lilies, and lilies.
Fair Trade
Fair trade roses are always available. They come in many different colors.
